I'm not sure what the actual requirement is but if you simply want to have your name replaced by something else go to Word> Preferences> User Information. Replace the user Name with something such as Anonymous & replace the Initials with ANON. Be sure to check the Always use... box. Note that this will go into effect for any new Comments you enter but will have no effect on those previously inserted.

Note also that what you change it to also so will be used by Word in UserName fields, documents based on templates which automatically insert the user name, etc.

In Word for Mac, you can click Tools (on the main menu bar) and then Protect Document, and choose the option to remove personal information. All comments as well as any tracked changes will be anonymous when you save and reopen the document.

If you just want to change the user name, go to Word > Preferences > User information.

To anonymize the name in the comment box of a Word document, you can change the author name associated with comments. This can typically be done by adjusting the settings in Word. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Change Your Name in Word Settings:
      • Go to File > Options.
      • In the General section, look for Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office.
      • Change the User name to something generic or anonymous.
      • Click OK to save the changes.
    2. Remove Existing Comments: If you want to anonymize existing comments, you may need to delete them and re-add them after changing your name.
    3. Use a Different Account: If you are collaborating with others, consider using a different account that does not have identifiable information.

By following these steps, you can ensure that comments in your Word document do not display your actual name, thus anonymizing them.
