In project x, there is a problem with the content type in the General/Allgemein folder.

  • The default content type is set to Allgemein (General).
  • However, when a document is uploaded from the templates, it is automatically classified as Plan
  • In project y, the same process works correctly: documents in the General folder are automatically recognized as Allgemein (general)
  • In the properties of the uploaded Word document, an incorrect content type id is assigned. If this ID is manually removed, the document is correctly recognized as Allgemein.
  • Attempts to change the content type of the General/Allgemein folder from Order/folder to Allgemein result in the following error: “Error: To update this folder, please switch to the channel in Microsoft Teams.”
  • The same error occurs when trying to make the change directly in Microsoft Teams.
  • In contenttype We set the "Allgmeien " as an standart Contentype, I did hide "Plan" from the list howevere document appear as an "Plan" how we can set to "allgemein"

    Hello @Polat, Nezla,

Thank you for providing such a detailed description of the issue. After reviewing and working on it, we’ve determined that the unexpected behavior where an item's property in SharePoint does not recognize the correct content type is typically related to a server-side process and it requires involvement from our backend team, which is beyond the access level of Microsoft moderators. They will need to check the site configuration and document library settings from the backend to identify the issue and apply the necessary adjustments. To submit a new service request to Microsoft Support, you will need to:

    • Go to the admin center at https://admin.cloud.microsoft. If you are not the admin, please help us to contact directly to your IT Admin.
    • On the bottom right side of the page, select Help & Suppport

    • Please follow the structure below and select "Contact Support". Then, choose contact method: "Phone" or "Email"

It seems that you're experiencing issues with the content type assignment in your SharePoint project. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Verify Content Type Settings: Ensure that the content type "Allgemein" is correctly set as the default content type for the General/Allgemein folder. You can do this by checking the settings in the SharePoint site where the folder resides.
    2. Check Document Library Settings: Make sure that the document library settings allow for content types and that "Allgemein" is available as an option. Sometimes, if content types are not enabled for a library, the default may revert to another content type like "Plan".
    3. Bulk Edit Items: If documents are already uploaded and classified incorrectly, consider using the bulk edit feature to change the content type of existing documents to "Allgemein". This can often help in reclassifying documents without needing to upload them again.
    4. Error Message Resolution: The error message you are encountering when trying to change the content type directly in Teams suggests that there may be a permissions issue or a need to switch to the correct channel. Ensure you have the necessary permissions and try accessing the folder through SharePoint directly rather than through Teams.
    5. Remove Incorrect Content Type ID: As you mentioned that manually removing the incorrect content type ID allows the document to be recognized correctly, consider implementing a process to automate this if possible, or ensure that uploads from templates do not assign the incorrect ID.
    6. Consult Microsoft Support: If the issue persists despite following these steps, it may be beneficial to reach out to Microsoft Support for more tailored assistance, especially if this is affecting multiple users or projects.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the content type issue in your project effectively.

I created a ticket as you guided ([Moderator note: personal info removed]). I was contacted, and they did a remote session. They told me that I need to create a new ticket so it will be assigned to the correct team. I then created another ticket in the same way. This is my second ticket number: [Moderator note: personal info removed]
