Why is Windows Update constantly prompting for Intel - Extension - 2.1.10103.18 update and restart?

Everytime I start my computer, I get a Windows Update prompt at some point, which is consistently to install Intel - Extension - 2.1.10103.18. I believe it is already installed (actually, I think a newer version is installed) and would like to find a way not to keep getting this update reminder. When I put my computer in Sleep mode for the evening, it will always re-boot before I return in the morning, which is quite annoying. Any help with this apparent infinite loop issue?

    Hi,

This is a known issue in Windows Update when getting driver updates. This usually happens when Windows Update sometimes misidentifies driver metadata. Since your current installed driver is more updated, you can hide that update using Microsoft’s Hide or Show Update tool.

The issue of being repeatedly prompted to install the same update, such as the Intel - Extension - 2.1.10103.18, can occur if the update isn't installed correctly the first time or if your Windows Update settings can't detect that the update has already been installed. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check Update History: Look at your update history to see if there are any error messages related to the Intel update. You can do this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history.
    2. Install the Update Manually: If the update appears to be stuck, try to install it manually. You can download the latest version of the update from the Intel website or through Windows Update.
    3. Verify Installation: Ensure that the update is indeed installed. Sometimes, updates may be installed but not recognized by the system. Check if a newer version is already installed by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    4. Reset Windows Update Components: If the problem persists, you may need to reset the Windows Update components. This can sometimes resolve issues with updates that keep reappearing.
    5. Post to Microsoft Communities: If none of the above solutions work, consider posting your issue on the Microsoft Communities forum for additional support.

By following these steps, you should be able to stop the constant prompts for the same update and prevent your computer from restarting unexpectedly.

I am having the same problem. Started a chat with Microsoft and they set my PC up to reinstall windows 11. Hours later it failed to reinstall and reverted back to the original windows installation with the daily reboot and install of Intel - Extension - 2.1.10103.18. Annoying. The Microsoft Hide Show Update tool does not recognize the update so no option to hide.
