  • I have been trying to register for the Azure student account and though I have provided all the information requested there is still no progress. What else am I supposed to do?
  • I am in China mainland. Could the fact that I am in a Chinese University be the issue?

There could be several reasons why your registration for an Azure account is being denied. Here are some common issues to consider:

    1. Eligibility for Free Trial: If you are trying to register for a free trial, ensure that you have not had any other type of Azure subscription in the past, as this could disqualify you from activating a free trial.
    2. Correct Information: Double-check that all the information you provided during the registration process is accurate, including your contact email address, street address, and telephone number. Any discrepancies can lead to registration issues.
    3. Credit Card Information: Ensure that your credit card information is correct and that the billing address matches your bank records. Note that virtual or prepaid credit cards are not accepted for Azure subscriptions.
    4. Country/Region Restrictions: Azure may not support sign-ups from certain countries or regions. Since you mentioned you are in China mainland, it's important to verify if Azure allows registrations from that location. If your country does not appear in the country code list during the sign-up process, you won't be able to register.
    5. Existing Microsoft Account: Make sure you do not already have a Microsoft account that uses the same information you are trying to register with, as this can also cause issues.

If you have checked all these aspects and are still facing issues, consider reaching out to Azure support for further assistance.

    Hello @Wellington Musyoka ,

The current MS Policy states - Azure for Students is available only to students who meet the following requirements. You must affirm that you are age 18 or older and attend an accredited, degree-granting two-year or four-year educational institution where you’re a full-time student. You must verify your academic status through your organization’s email address. This offer is not available for use in a massive open online course (MOOC) or in other professional trainings from for-profit organizations.

This offer is limited to one Azure for Students subscription per eligible customer, is non-transferable, and cannot be combined with any other offer unless otherwise permitted by Microsoft. Azure for Students has a limited supply of activations and the offer is available only while supplies last. Microsoft may terminate this offer at our sole discretion. Other restrictions may apply.

Check out the FAQ at https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students/ for more details.
