My Outlook calendar has no color coding feature, unlike older versions where the color coding appeared on the ribbon - easy, clear. Your AI help says go to "File" - and nothing like you describe is at my "File" setting - just a print feature. 1) how do I restore the older, simpler version with color coding? 2) MSFT, just restore the original color coding to the ribbon - why not? Perhaps there are many of us who rely on more visual sorting than the eer who decided to just drop the color coding - so why not restore it? Its a great feature, and my question is serious. HEllo Martha,

I understand why color coding is useful. The location of that option has changed in newer Outlook versions.

It's now under Categories. Instead of going to File, open your calendar, right-click an event, and select Categorize to assign colors. If you don't see Categorize, your account type might not support it.

Are you using the Outlook desktop app or the web version, and what type of account do you have?

Outlook doesn't let you completely switch back to an older layout, but I can show you how to customize the ribbon to make Categorize easier to access. Would you like me to guide you through adding it back?

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

I just checked my account on Outlook.com and I can see the "Categorize" button in the ribbon:
