Publishing a Calendar no longer functions correctly

Am I doing something wrong or did Microsoft push a bad update?

Publishing a calendar no longer functions correctly. All calendar entries display the text "FREE" within its subject lines with no information contained within them.

Each individual calendar entries display and appear correctly when viewed within directly in Outlook. Each entry has a unique subject/title with information contained within them.

However, it's the Calendar > Shared Calendars > Publish a Calendar > view HTML of said calendar that has stopped functioning.

Nothing that I am aware of was changed/updated on my end and it has been working all year until just recently.

    Hi James,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand why that's annoying, especially since it used to work! Usually, this happens because of how the calendar's permissions are set up in Outlook. If you share a calendar with Can view when I’m busy selected, people will only see if you're free or busy, not what the event is, even if you see everything just fine in your own Outlook. I am here to help.

To fix this, head to Outlook Settings > Calendar > Shared Calendars > Publish a Calendar. Find the calendar you're sharing and switch the permission from Can view when I’m busy to either Can view titles and locations or Can view all details. After you change it, copy the new HTML link and share that. If you don't see those options, maybe something changed in the latest Outlook or your company has some rules about it. If that's the case, ask your IT people or send feedback through the Microsoft Feedback Portal.

     I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

    Hi James,

Thank you for the update. You can try this alternative steps.

Confirm if this is a known issue: Check the Microsoft 365 Service Health Dashboard or the Microsoft Feedback Portal for reports related to calendar publishing.

Submit feedback: Use Help > Feedback > Report a Problem in Outlook or post on the Feedback Portal. Include screenshots and note that this worked previously but broke after recent updates.

Alternative sharing options:

Use Share Calendar with specific people and set permissions to “Can view all details.”

Or export the calendar to an ICS file and share that link instead of HTML.

Monitor updates: Microsoft often rolls out fixes for regressions like this in subsequent updates.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards, Noel
