    Hi Lou Radomsky

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Q&A forum

Based on your description, I understand you are unable to send or receive emails in Outlook 365, receiving error code 0x800CCC0E. Since you confirmed that you can access your email via your provider’s webmail site, I know your password and account status are healthy.

This error indicates Outlook is trying to connect using settings that do not match your email service provider's current requirements (usually related to Port numbers or SSL encryption).

Here are some recommended steps you can follow to check and update your configuration using the Windows Control Panel, which provides a more detailed setup than the Outlook app.

Verify server names and configure ports, authentication

    • Close Outlook completely and open Control Panel > In the top-right search box of the Control Panel, type Mail > Click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook) > Click the Email Accounts… button.
    • Double-click your email address from the list, review the Incoming and Outgoing server names, and verify that these server names match the settings recommended on your email service provider's support website (I will send you referral information via private message).
    • Click the More Settings... button in the bottom right corner.
    • At tab Outgoing Server
      • Check the box: "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
      • Select: "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
    • At tab Advanced
      • Incoming server (IMAP): Set to 993 / Use the following type of encrypted connection: Select SSL/TLS.
      • Outgoing server (SMTP): I will send you the details in a private message / Use the following type of encrypted connection: Select SSL/TLS.

Click OK > Next (Outlook will test the settings). If the test does not work, please try to double-check that the Server Names match exactly what your email provider lists in their documentation. Once you see two green checkmarks, click Close and Finish.

A note on Antivirus Software: If the issue persists after applying these settings, please temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software. Security features like email shields can sometimes block the connection to the server, triggering this specific error.

    Repair or Re-add Account

If the issue persists, you can try repairing your profile or manually creating a new Outlook profile using the above settings.

Detailed steps for creating a new Outlook profile: Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support. Sometimes creating a fresh profile usually resolves this immediately without losing your data.

In the step of adding your email account, please choose manual mode by clicking "Advanced options" and selecting the IMAP setup option. Then, you can configure the settings as I mentioned above.

Using Outlook - Error message is:

Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for [Moderator note: personal info removed] .' reported error0x800CCC0E : Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to received this message, contact your server administrator or internet server provider (ISP)

I have internet service. I am able to access my email on Webmail's main site but not using Outlook365. Clearly I have the wrong server settings.
