Hey, my mom bought me a tablet for my birthday, a surface pro 11 with snapdragon x elite 16gb ram 256 gb ssd and after checking the SKU and SN with copilot randomly it told me that it might be business edition. I havent turned it on since i got it because i fear that she might be unable to return it if its actually business and it gets locked. how can i find out for sure that its not a business tablet? btw she bought it from a site thats pretty much amazon with different sellers. SKU:ep2-14486 idk if i should post the sn here

To determine if your Surface Pro 11 is a business edition or not, you can check the System SKU. The business editions of the Surface Pro typically have specific SKU identifiers. For example, the SKU for the Surface Pro with 5G, 11th Edition for Business is listed as Surface_Pro_with_5G_11th_Edition_For_Business_2077 or similar variations depending on the configuration.

You can retrieve the System SKU by using PowerShell with the following command:

    (Get-CimInstance -Namespace root\wmi -ClassName MS_SystemInformation).SystemSKU

Alternatively, you can find the System SKU in the System Information tool:

    1. Select Start, and then type MSInfo32 in the search box.
    2. Select System Information.

If the SKU you find matches one of the business edition identifiers, then it is a business tablet. If it does not match, then it is likely a consumer version.

If you are still unsure, you might consider contacting the seller for clarification or checking the specifications on the Microsoft website to compare the SKU.

First of all, the SP11 for business has an Intel processor, while the consumer version of the SP11 has the Snapdragon ARM processor.

Second, consumers/home users do buy the business models.

Third, what do you mean by "she might be unable to return it if its actually business and it gets locked." Why would it get locked? Do you think it is a second hand device registered to a business? And "she bought it from a site thats pretty much amazon with different sellers" what exact site? Was it an authorized Microsoft reseller? You can plug the serial number in at https://mybusinessservice.surface.com/en-US/CheckWarranty/CheckWarranty - and see if the warranty was previously activated by a prior owner as the expiration date would tell the story.
