If your microphone is not working in Microsoft Teams even though it is hooked up, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check if the microphone is available: Ensure that your microphone is recognized by your system. You can do this by checking your device settings.
    2. Verify permissions: Make sure that Teams has permission to access your microphone. You can check this in your system settings under privacy.
    3. Inspect the connections: Ensure that the microphone is properly connected to your device. If it’s a USB microphone, try unplugging and replugging it.
    4. Test with another application: Check if the microphone works with another application to rule out a hardware issue.
    5. Check for mute settings: Make sure that the microphone is not muted at the system level or through any physical mute buttons on the device.
    6. Update drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers are up to date. You can check for updates through your device manager.
    7. Restart Teams: Sometimes, simply restarting the Teams application can resolve audio issues.
    8. Check audio settings in Teams: Go to Teams settings and ensure the correct microphone is selected under the Devices section.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your IT support for further assistance.

    Hello

Is the Microphone via USB or headset/input port?

Can you hold down Windows +R keys, type in mmsys.cpl and press enter, then go to the Recording tab, is the microphone listed here? If so, right click and make sure it is set to default device. Then double click on the microphone, go to the Levels tab, and make sure it is not muted.

Next, launch the Sound Recorder app and see if you can record it and play back. If you cannot, please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, then share a screenshot of the pop up please.
