Issue Summary: Alt + Tab Duplicate SAP B1 Windows Removed but Thumbnail Preview Missing

I used the AltTabSettings registry method to remove the duplicate SAP Business One windows from the Alt + Tab switcher. After applying the setting, the duplicate entries disappeared, and the behavior worked correctly.

However, a new problem has appeared:

The Alt + Tab thumbnail preview is no longer visible.

Instead of showing the small visual preview of each window, Windows is now showing only the window titles.

Steps Already Tried

1. Added Registry Key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
AltTabSettings = 1  (DWORD)

2. Windows Settings

Disabled System → Multitasking → "Show tabs in Alt+Tab"

Restarted Windows Explorer

Restarted the system

After this, the Alt + Tab thumbnails completely disappeared.

Current Requirement

I need a solution where both conditions work together:

1. Duplicate SAP B1 windows should NOT appear in Alt + Tab

(Already working with AltTabSettings = 1)

2. Alt + Tab thumbnail preview should SHOW normally

(Currently disabled because of the setting)

    Hi K,

Thank you for sharing your question.

Thanks for the clear explanation. I get that you got rid of the extra SAP Business One windows in the Alt + Tab thing by messing with the AltTabSettings in the registry, but now the little previews are gone, and you just see the text titles. Let’s sort this together.

I see you already tried restarting Explorer, rebooting, and messing with the multitasking settings, which is cool.

It sucks when fixing one thing messes up another, especially 'cause those thumbnails make it way easier to see what's what. A lot of folks run into this after turning on the old-school Alt + Tab.

Basically, it's the registry setting itself that's doing it. Setting AltTabSettings to 1 makes Windows use the classic Alt + Tab, which only shows icons and titles – no thumbnail previews. It's supposed to do that, not a mistake. Windows doesn't let you have both at the same time because fixing the duplicate windows needs the classic mode, but thumbnails are part of the newer thing.

So, here's what you can do,

    Put AltTabSettings back to 0**

Change that registry thing back to 0 (or just get rid of it) here

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Then restart Explorer. This brings back the thumbnails, but you'll have those extra SAP B1 windows again.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards, Noel
