Issue when verifying Azure Student account

I am verifying my student account in Azure. My school and home address are both based in Singapore. The problem is regarding to the City section under details. The verification process did not allow me to put 'Singapore' in the City section when I was filling in my details. Singapore is a city-country, so we would either put 'Singapore' or 'Not Applicable (NA)' when it comes to answering which city we live in. I have tried other tactics, such as neighbourhood names, regions or NA, but none works. Moreover, the application does not allow me to continue if I leave that section blank. Thus, to summarise, what do I put under the City section if my location is in Singapore?

    Hello CHRISTINE,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Q&A forum

If the system is not allowing you to enter Singapore in the city field, you might want to attempt entering Not Applicable (NA) again. However, since it sounds like that didn't work for you previously, you could also try using the abbreviation SG as some systems might accept that in place of a full city name.

Unfortunately, since Singapore is both a city and a country, some forms might be less flexible with how they categorize locations. If neither of these options works, here are some steps you could take:

    1. Double-check that all other entered information is accurate, as sometimes errors can affect form submission.
    2. Make sure the Country/Region is set to Singapore first, then type Singapore in the City field exactly, with no extra spaces or punctuation.
    3. Switch browser, clear cache, or use a private/incognito window and try again, as address validation errors in Azure sometimes come from cached or formatting issues.
    4. Reach out to Azure for Education support directly. They would have the best insight into issues with specific forms and verification processes. Here’s the link to their support: Azure for Education support.

    Follow-up questions:

    1. Can you confirm that you've updated all other address information correctly?
    2. Have you experienced this issue on different devices or browsers?
    3. Would you like me to provide more information about contacting Azure support?
    4. Are there any specific error messages that pop up when you try to submit the city field?

Hope this helps! If you still run into issues, let me know and we can try a different approach.

    Hello CHRISTINE

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A platform.

As you're having a tough time getting past the City section while verifying your Azure Student account. Since Singapore is both a city and a country, it can sometimes cause confusion in forms that require specific entries.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Enter "Singapore" Again: Double-check to ensure that you’re entering "Singapore" without any extra spaces or punctuation. That might just do the trick!
    2. Use "Not Applicable (NA)": This was mentioned in your query, and it’s worth giving it another shot. Some forms might actually accept it.
    3. Try the Abbreviation: Sometimes forms can be finicky. Try entering "SG" as the city.
    4. Ensure Correct Country/Region: Confirm that you have "Singapore" selected correctly in the country/region field before filling out the city field. Sometimes this order matters.
    5. Browser Issues: If none of the above works, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser or an incognito/private mode to eliminate any potential formatting issues.
    6. Contact Support: If things are still not working, I recommend reaching out directly to Azure for Education support. They’re your best bet for resolving this specific form issue. Here’s the link: Azure for Education support.

If you have any other queries, please do let us know.

    Thanks,

    Suchitra.
