To create a table of contents in OneNote, you can manually create a list of links to each section and page within your notebook. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

    1. Create a New Page: Start by creating a new page where you want your table of contents to reside.
    2. List Sections: Manually type the names of each section in your notebook. You can format them as headings for better visibility.
    3. Link Sections: For each section, you can create a link by right-clicking on the section name in the navigation pane and selecting "Copy Link to Section." Then, paste this link next to the corresponding section name in your table of contents.
    4. List Pages: Similarly, for pages within each section, you can follow the same process. Navigate to the page, right-click, and select "Copy Link to Page."
    5. Organize: Organize the links in a way that reflects the structure of your notebook, making it easy to navigate.

This method allows you to have a functional table of contents that links directly to your sections and pages, enhancing navigation within your OneNote notebooks.

    Hi @Steve LaFon

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand you would like to create a Table of Contents (TOC) for your OneNote pages and sections. While OneNote does not have a built-in TOC feature, there are a few effective ways to achieve this:

Option 1: Create links to specific text (Manual TOC)

You can create a dedicated page and add links to your sections and pages. Here’s how:

    • Right-click the page or section name in the navigation pane.
    • Select Copy Link to Page (or Section).
    • Paste the link into your TOC page.  User's image

This allows you to build a TOC that points directly to key paragraphs within a page.

For detailed steps, please refer to this Microsoft article:  Create links to notebooks, sections, pages, and paragraphs

Option 2: Automated TOC with Onetastic

If you are using OneNote for Windows, the Onetastic add-in offers a macro that can automatically generate a TOC for your section or notebook.
