BitLocker + Windows Hello = Auto Unlock? (Win 11 Pro, Local Account)

How can I configure BitLocker to automatically unlock the drive upon signing in to Windows 11 Pro using Windows Hello?

I have a TPM module and a local Windows account, but an organizational account is also added (on Email & accounts and Access work or school).2025-12-03 08_41_27-Business Advisor PL - Tłumaczenie Azure AD

    Hello,

It is not possible to use Windows Hello at the BitLocker pre-boot screen (the blue screen before Windows loads). This is because the specific hardware drivers required for your Windows Hello are not loaded until the Operating System actually starts.

@Brian Huynh (WICLOUD CORPORATION) Perhaps I wasn't clear. I don't want the drive to be unlocked during login, but rather after logging in. It should be unlocked automatically after signing in to Windows.

    Hello,

To enable this for your drive:

    1. Sign in to Windows and unlock your secondary drive manually (if it is currently locked).
    2. Open the Start Menu, type Manage BitLocker, and press Enter.
    3. Locate the drive (Fixed Data Drive) in the list.
    4. Click on the link that says Turn on auto-unlock.

The drive will remain encrypted while the computer is off or booting. Once you successfully sign in to Windows, the system will automatically unlock that specific drive for you instantly.

Took me a while to solve this, but auto-unlock feature on fixed drives doesn't work until you encrypt system drive as well. Stupid, but what can you expect...
