This is a follow up question to the original question:

The advisor did not answer the question or even test his answer in the original post.

Repairing & resetting the Phone Link app does not reset the app to an extent where it forgets the Microsoft account and allows the user to login to the desired account.

I am speculating that the Phone Link app gets it's Microsoft Account setting from the Windows Store app. The store doesn't seem to allow for multiple accounts. In my case I am signed into Windows with a work account that has InTune policies so this might be a very niche case.

I have apps that are licensed through my work account so I don't want to mess those up by changing store accounts - but if you don't have these constraints it might be worth seeing what happens of you switch your store account to the one you want, then reset the Phone Link app and see if that works.

    Hi Fox,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand about changing the Microsoft account used by the Phone Link app. It's annoying when resetting the app doesn't let you switch accounts. This is because Phone Link saves your account info with your Windows user profile, and sometimes your Microsoft Store account too. If you're logged into Windows with a work account (mainly with Intune stuff), the app will go with that one. I am here to help.

To fix this, you need to totally reset the app and make sure your Windows account works with the Microsoft account you want. Here's what you can do:

Sign out and reset Phone Link: Head to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Phone Link, pick Advanced options, and hit Reset. This gets rid of saved sign-in info.

Check your Windows account type: If your PC uses a work account, Phone Link will use that too. To use a different one, you might need to log into Windows with a regular Microsoft account instead of a work one. Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info, and if it says Local Account or is linked to work, click Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

Re-pair your phone: After resetting, open Phone Link and set it up from scratch. On your phone, sign out of Link to Windows, then sign in with the Microsoft account you want to use.

I hope this answer is helpful, if you have any questions, feel free to reply.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

This is how I reset it as per what people have been saying:

    1. Before reset, this is what the Phone Link app looks like
      User's image
    2. Next, we repair & reset the app
      User's image

    User's image

At this point all the advice we see says we should see that the saved sign-in information is cleared. If it was, we'd expect to see a login to MS account prompt or an account picker.

    This is what I see

    1. User's image

The last prompt there, where the reset confirmation prompt claims sign in information will be removed is not accurate. It appears to do nothing.
