Hello @Michael Sonenscher,
Good day! Thank you for posting your valuable question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.
To help us provide the most accurate and effective solution for your Outlook issue, could you share a bit more detail about your setup?
- Is this on a personal device or a work/school device managed by your organization? Do you have admin rights on your computer?
- Do you see a toggle or prompt saying “Try the new Outlook” when you open Outlook? (Or does the new Outlook open automatically without asking?)
- Is the new Outlook installed as a separate app (from Microsoft Store) or integrated into your existing Outlook?
- What operating system are you using? (Windows 10, Windows 11, MacOs, or another version?)
- When you mentioned, “I have to tell it to go back to Outlook every time,” do you mean that you want to use the Classic Outlook and have to manually switch from the New Outlook interface back to the Classic Outlook each time you start the app?
This additional context will help us understand your environment and tailor the guidance to resolve the issue effectively.
In the meantime, if you prefer to use Classic Outlook, you can search for “Outlook (Classic)” in your Windows Search bar and open it from there. This will launch the classic version instead of the new Outlook interface.

Similarly, if you want to use New Outlook, you can search for “Outlook" in the Windows Search bar and open it directly.
I apologize for not jumping straight to a solution. I want to avoid suggesting anything that might be inaccurate or unhelpful. Once I have the details above, I’ll be able to assist you more effectively and guide you toward the right resolution.
Looking forward to your response so we can get this sorted out for you together.
