    Dear @Connie Gao Personal,

Good day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. I truly appreciate your patience during this time and thank you for bearing with us.

As per your description, I have tested it on my end and cannot reproduce the same error.

For better assist, please kindly let me know some information:

    • Does this issue occur with other Office desktop apps, such as Word?
    • Your version of Office (e.g., Office 365, 2021)?
    • Does this issue happen on One Note desktop, web or both?
    • Are there any specific error messages or codes displayed when the issue occurs?

In the meantime, please kindly try these steps below and check if it helps:

    1.Check the keyboard layout.

As the following image says, Keys for other layouts might not correspond exactly to the keys on a US keyboard. You may also check the input language keyboard when editing notebooks. Please switch to English (US keyboard) to check this issue.

Then I suggest you update OneNote to the newest version via clicking File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

For reference: Keyboard shortcuts in OneNote

    2.Disable COM Add-ins in OneNote:

Please go to: File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins, then click Go. From there, uncheck any enabled COM add-ins and select OK. This step helps identify whether any add-ins are contributing to the freezing behavior.

    3.Update OneNote:

If you're using the Office version: open any Office app and navigate to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now. If you're using the Microsoft Store version (UWP), please open the Microsoft Store, go to Library, and click Get Updates.

4.Clear Cache: Please try clearing your OneNote cache. You can do this by:

    • Close OneNote.
    • Open File Explorer and go to:  C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\

    User's image

    • Delete folders named 16.0, 15.0, etc., depending on your version.

3.Sign out and sign in OneNote

    4.Uninstall and then reinstall OneNote

Note: Please note that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. I am looking forward to your response!
