    Dear midge H,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. We understand your concern about receiving phishing emails that appear to be sent from your own address, and we are here to assist you.

This is a common tactic known as email spoofing, where spammers forge the "From" address to make it look like the email is coming from you. The good news is that your account has not been compromised to send these emails; they are simply designed to trick you. Since the "Report" button is unavailable, here are the most effective actions you can take:

Step 1: Manually Report the Phishing Emails to Microsoft

This is the most crucial step to help our filters learn and block these messages.

    • In your inbox, select the suspicious email(s) without clicking any links inside them.
    • Right-click on the selected email(s).
    • Navigate to Block -> Report phishing.
    • Alternatively, you can drag and drop these emails directly into your Junk Email folder. Outlook will learn from this action.

Step 2: Create a Sweeping Rule to Block Similar Messages

Disclaimer: Please use caution when creating mail rules. If you choose keywords that are too common, legitimate emails might be accidentally filtered. We recommend testing with one unique phrase first.

    • In New Outlook for Mac, go to Tools > Rules > Edit Rules...
    • Click + to create a new rule (e.g., "Block Phishing").
    • Set the Condition: Body > Contains > enter a unique phrase from the email body (e.g., "running low on storage").
    • Set the Action: Move message > to folder > select Junk or Deleted Items.
    • Click Save

Step 3: Safely Report the Spoofing

To ensure Microsoft's security team can analyze the full headers, please forward the suspicious email as an attachment to: abuse at outlook dot com.

    Additional Security Measures:

    • Never interact with links or buttons in suspicious emails
    • Microsoft will never request passwords via unsolicited emails
    • Consider reviewing your account's security settings at account.microsoft.com/security

We appreciate you spend your time working on this issue. We look forward to your response.
