If your OneDrive data is not visible, there are a few options you can explore to restore it:

    1. Check the Recycle Bin: Deleted files in OneDrive are moved to the recycle bin and are kept for a designated time before being permanently deleted. You can restore files from the recycle bin if they are still available there.
    2. Use Files Restore: OneDrive has a Files Restore feature that allows you to restore files to any point over the past 30 days. You can select the desired recovery time using a histogram that shows file activity.
    3. Restore from Backup: If your organization uses Microsoft 365 Backup, you can restore data from a backup. You would need to select the date from which you want to restore files and follow the prompts to restore the necessary content.
    4. PowerShell Restoration: If the user account associated with the OneDrive was deleted, and it has been less than 30 days, you can restore the user and their OneDrive from the Microsoft 365 admin center. If more than 30 days have passed, you may need to use PowerShell commands to check if the OneDrive is available for restoration.

If you have already tried these methods and they did not work, it may be worth reaching out to your IT support for further assistance.

Hi, I know how stressful it feels when important files seem to disappear, and I want to help you get them back. based on what you described, the root cause is often either being signed into the wrong account or tenant, a stalled sync client, files moved or renamed by another device, retention windows expiring, or storage and policy changes hiding or purging content.

First, sign out and back in to onedrive on the web and desktop, confirm the exact account and tenant, then check onedrive Search for filenames and the Personal Vault. open onedrive on the web, pick a folder, and review version history to see if files were overwritten. In the onedrive app, go to settings, verify sync status, and select unlink this pc, then sign in again to force a fresh sync. If you’re on microsoft 365, check the SharePoint site’s first and second stage recycle bins for the connected OneDrive library, and review the Audit log for delete or move events. Also confirm storage quota and any retention or DLP policies that might have auto deleted or quarantined files. If ransomware is suspected, use Ransomware recovery from onedrive on the web. A few quick questions to narrow it down: are you using personal or work onedrive, did the missing files live in shared folders, and did anything change recently like device reset, account removal, or policy updates?
