trouble with download storage

hi,so i had previously run out of storage for downloads, i did a google search on how to resolve this and it was suggested that i chnage the save file location.i followed the instructions given and could see that i had new volume d and e with plenty of gb free [just under 1k] but despite all my best efforts i was still getting the notification that i dont have enough free space when downloading. somehwere amongst the chaos something about onedrive popped up! offering a subscription for 1tb of storage to which i have subscribed.....but alas im still being told not enough free space!? what am i doing wrong? im at my witts end! need someone to explain it to me like im 5. thanks in advance.

    The message “not enough free space” can come from either your local drive or OneDrive. Can you take a screenshot of the message? It could help me identify better where the message come from.
