    Hi @E Viona

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand it may be frustrating to continue seeing “File is corrupt” or “We found a problem with some content,” even after reinstalling Office and updating macOS.

To help us better understand your issue, could you please share a bit more information?

    • Is this issue occurring with all Excel files, or only with one specific file?
    • Are the affected files stored locally on your Mac, or on OneDrive?
    • If you upload the corrupted file to OneDrive and try opening it in Excel for the web, does it open or does the same error appear?

In the meantime, you might consider the following steps to see if they help resolve the issue:

1.Open Excel without opening any file, then go to Excel > Preferences > Calculation > select Manual and then try opening the affected file again. This may help if automatic calculations might be contributing to the issue when the workbook is opened.

2.Try opening the workbook in read-only mode and copy the content to a new file.  You can right-click the file > Get Info > Sharing & Permissions, and temporarily set it to Read only. If Excel allows the file to open in read-only, create a blank workbook and move the data into it.

3.Try opening Excel in Safe Mode to rule out issues caused by add-ins or custom settings.

You can refer to this article for more details: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-use-a-clean-startup-to-determine-whether-background-programs-are-interfering-with-office-for-mac-e99e92b2-f67e-b98d-b69f-d12236c53f2c

4.If the issue started after a recent update, you may also try rolling back to an earlier Excel version to see whether the file can be opened there.

You can try following the steps below to roll back Excel to a previous version:

+Open any Office app > Help > Check for Updates > clear the checkbox for “Automatically keep Microsoft Apps up to date.”

    +Quit all Office apps.

+Go to Applications > choose Microsoft Excel > Move to Trash.

+Install the 16.99 or 16.100 package from this link: Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
