Can you link a workspace in loop directly to a workplan in planner?

Hello,

I want to use Planner and loop for my project follow up.

I would like the achieve the following setup:

1 workspace in loop for each project.

1 workplan in planner for each project.

When I create a meeting note in loop for PROJECT1 (in the workspace). In my meeting notes I create a tasklist. I want to assign this task to an employee but directly in the workplan for project 1.

Is this possible?

I know i can move task in planner to workplan but then the task is not longer in my meeting summary and this creates every time a new workplan in planner that needs to be deleted.

Has somebody experience in this case or a workaround?

Thanks

    Hello @Info,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum! I understand you want to connect a Loop workspace directly to an existing Planner workplan so that tasks created in Loop meeting notes sync seamlessly with your project plan.

Currently, this is a known limitation in the Loop-to-Planner integration. The default “Follow-up tasks” or Task List component in Loop automatically creates a new plan in Planner (usually titled “Meeting Notes…”) rather than linking to an existing plan. This behavior is by design and cannot be changed at the moment and I'm so sorry for that!

I try to research and here a recommended workaround: Instead of using the default Task List, embed your existing Planner plan directly into the Loop page. You can:

    1. Create your Loop workspace for the project and set up your Planner plan.
    2. In Planner, open the project plan and copy its URL from the browser.
    3. Paste the URL into your Loop page or meeting note. Loop will render an interactive Planner component inside the page.
    4. During meetings, add tasks directly in the embedded Planner component. These tasks will sync instantly to your existing plan, preserving buckets and assignments.

This approach avoids creating duplicate plans and keeps all tasks in the correct workplan. Please note that permissions for the embedded Planner component follow the Microsoft 365 Group linked to the plan. Ensure all attendees are members of that group; otherwise, they may see a “Content not available” message.

In the meantime, to ensure this gets prioritized by the product team is to submit feedback through the official Microsoft Feedback Portal. The more votes and comments an item receive, the higher its visibility and priority. Here’s the link: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback

If you share the link to your feedback here, others in the community (including myself) can upvote it to help bring more attention to the issue.

Thank you again for your persistence and for sharing your experience so openly. It really helps us understand where improvements are needed. If you’d like further assistance, feel free to create a new post on this Q&A Forum, we're always here to support you as much as possible.

    Warm Regards.

Currently, there is no direct integration that allows you to link a workspace in Microsoft Loop directly to a workplan in Microsoft Planner. While you can create tasks in Planner and manage them, tasks created in Loop workspaces do not automatically sync or link to Planner workplans.

As a workaround, you can manually create tasks in Planner based on the task list you generate in your Loop workspace. However, this means that the tasks will not be automatically reflected in both places, and you would need to manage them separately.

If you want to keep a record of tasks in your meeting notes while also tracking them in Planner, you might consider copying the task details from your Loop workspace and creating them in Planner as needed. Unfortunately, this does not provide the seamless integration you are looking for, but it is a way to maintain visibility across both tools.

Can you avoid that every time you create a new task and sync with planner that they create a new workplan in planner?

Then i can manually asign tasks to the plan but i don't need to delete the newly created plan.
