Building off a prior thread from 3/15/2025 on this same issue, but no solutions posted in that thread.

The screen of my new Surface Laptop 11 has been experiencing color distortion issues for the past month. The colors appear altered on the laptop screen, but they look perfect on my external monitor (Dell gaming computer) connected via MS dock 2. In fact, when I connect a second monitor and then switch back to the main screen, the colors return to normal. However, every time I restart, the colors become distorted again. After working MS helpdesk chat twice, I have done a total reset of the computer and the screen colors remain distorted even after that. Now Microsoft asking me to mail it back for a full repair order.

Anyone with experience of this issue? My concern is that this will occur again with the refurbished/new surface pro when I connect to my external monitor ...

Microsoft released firmware updates in July 2024 that specifically addressed color distortion problems when waking from sleep or rebooting with HDR enabled.

Additionally, a September 2024 firmware update addressed image distortion after waking from sleep model.

Run Windows Update to make sure you have the latest system updates.

Specifically check for Surface firmware and driver updates.

Go to Settings → Display → Use HDR. Try disabling this to see if it prevents the color distortion on restart.

Update your Dock 2 firmware: Download the latest drivers/firmware for Surface Dock 2 from Microsoft's download center.
