I redownloaded the Authentior app but it seems that this did not help the problem. I got further into getting into my personal account, but I came to another issue. This message appears... I do not have an account with an organization and want to set it up with a personal account. Please let me know how I can fix this problem. my email is <RemovedPII>@gmail.com

The error message AADSTS500200 typically indicates that there is an issue with the account being used to sign in, particularly when it comes to organizational accounts. Since you mentioned that you do not have an account with an organization and want to set it up with a personal account, it is possible that the Microsoft Authenticator app is expecting a work or school account instead of a personal Microsoft account.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Ensure you're using the correct account type: Make sure you are trying to sign in with a personal Microsoft account (like a Hotmail or Outlook.com account) rather than a work or school account.
    2. Check your account settings: If you have previously used this email with a work or school account, it may still be associated with those settings. You may need to clear any cached credentials or settings related to that account.
    3. Reinstall the Authenticator app: Since you have already redownloaded the app, ensure that you have completely removed it from your device, including any associated data, before reinstalling it.
    4. Use the web to sign in: Try signing in to your Microsoft account via a web browser to ensure that your account is active and functioning properly. This can help identify if the issue is specific to the app.
    5. Contact support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance with your personal account setup.

Following these steps should help you troubleshoot the issue with the Microsoft Authenticator app on your iPhone.

    Hello,

I am afraid some context is missing here.

Is this the first time you set up authentication app, or are you simply trying to set it up AGAIN after you got a new phone?

You need a Microsoft account to sign into the authentication app. Is the gmail address you used associated with a Microsoft account?
