Memory shows ON but Copilot says memory is off and will not retain facts

I enabled Copilot Memory and the toggle is showing ON, but when I ask Copilot to remember things it replies: “However, since your memory is currently turned off, I won’t be able to retain this info beyond our current conversation.” Memory briefly worked for me (I saved two facts) when I first became aware of this feature about 2 weeks ago, then the next time about a week ago (not when using Copilot but when I wanted to add something) the problem started, persisting all this time through my exhaustive various attempts troubleshooting. Troubleshooting I’ve done: toggled Memory settings in Copilot off/on, signed out of all Microsoft logins on Mac and iPhone, uninstalled and reinstalled the Copilot app using AppCleaner to remove residual files, rebooted, disabled Little Snitch during testing, tested across Safari/WebKit, Gecko, and Chrome, as well as with the Copilot app in Windows 11 (running in Parallels Desktop), and confirmed the latest app and OS versions. Even created another new Microsoft account for testing purposes which produced identical results. Device: MacBookPro17,1 running macOS Tahoe 26.1 (25B78).

    Hi @Simon Berg

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding your issue, Copilot Memory is currently being rolled out gradually, which means not everyone will have access at the same time. Microsoft is enabling this feature in stages to ensure stability, gather feedback, and improve the experience before making it widely available.

If you previously had access to Copilot Memory but noticed it's no longer available, this could be due to a few reasons:

    • Account or region-specific limitations: Availability may depend on your Microsoft account type, geographic location, or organizational settings especially if you're using an enterprise or school account.

In the meantime, there are a few things you can do in the meantime to help improve your experience and contribute to future updates:

Submit feedback: You’re welcome to share your experience and suggestions on the Microsoft 365 Copilot app · Community as this helps Microsoft gather insights and improve the feature during its rollout.

I understand this can be frustrating, and appreciate your patience while Microsoft continues to refine the feature. Hopefully, the feature will be available to you again soon with even better functionality.
