hi Michael Ruhlmann,
for private previews like the mtls feature in azure front door, access is tightly controlled by the product group. they onboard customers in waves to test stability and gather feedback. the fact that you had it and lost it suggests your access to that specific preview ring might have been temporary or there was a backend rollback.
your best bet to get it back is to officially request access. you need to contact the azure front door product team directly. the best way to do this is by opening an azure support ticket.
when you create the ticket, choose the problem type as "technical" and then "service and subscription limits (quotas)". in the description, clearly state that you were actively testing the mtls private preview feature for azure front door, that it was working for you, and that you have now lost access. request to be added back to the private preview program.
this formal request gets routed to the right team. they can check their logs, see that you were using it, and hopefully reinstate your access or provide a timeline for when it will be publicly available.
it is also a good idea to keep an eye on the official azure updates page https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/. when mtls for front door moves from private preview to public preview, it will be announced there.
open a support ticket to formally request access to the private preview. that is the only channel to get a direct response from the feature team.
rgds,
Alex
