Excel has been updated. I can no longer use it. The copy and paste function is no longer available. Tapping a cell no longer brings up the cell edit ribbon.

I saw the latest post on this thread, went in and updated the MS Excel app on my iPad and - yes - all the functions of the pop-up menu are back and working!

Thank you everyone for your contributions to this thread! I have been following it since I lost these features, and have tried all the recommendations you guys have suggested - so at least I felt like if there WERE something out there I could do to fix it - I was doing it. And who knows when I would have found the app had updated without these posts! So thanks again from Indiana for all the help!

If you are experiencing issues with the cell edit ribbon and the copy and paste functionality in Excel for iPad after an update, it may be related to changes in the app or compatibility issues with the iOS platform. The functionality to access the cell edit ribbon and perform copy and paste operations should typically be available. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Restart the App: Close Excel completely and reopen it to see if the issue persists.
    2. Check for Updates: Ensure that both your iPad's iOS and the Excel app are updated to the latest versions.
    3. Reinstall Excel: If the problem continues, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the Excel app to reset its settings.
    4. Reset Settings: Sometimes resetting the app settings can resolve unexpected behavior.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be helpful to check the Microsoft support forums or contact Microsoft support for further assistance.

Hi, thanks for posting here in Microsoft community, sorry to hear those steps didn’t help, Paul. If the issue started after an update, it might be a bug or compatibility glitch. You could try checking if Excel works properly in another user profile or device to isolate the problem. If not, reporting it directly to Microsoft via the app’s feedback option might get it on their radar faster.

Just to narrow it down does the copy/paste issue happen in all Excel files or only specific ones?

Let me know how it goes.

Go to the OneDrive app and select your file, then change the name of your file. Then open the file in excel and everything worked for me. Let me know if it worked for you.
