    Hello brenda richardson,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand you want to reuse your Microsoft Office license key on a new computer after retiring the old one.

    To do that:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account at Office.com/setupusing the same account you used to activate Office previously.
    2. Deactivate the old installation:
      • Go to Services & subscriptions.
      • Locate your Office product and select Manage → Deactivate for the old device.
    3. Install Office on the new computer:
      • Download the installer from the same page.
        • Run the setup and sign in with your Microsoft account.
    4. Activate Office:
      • If prompted, enter the same product key.
        • Most retail keys are linked to your Microsoft account, so signing in usually activates it automatically.

If the key shows as already in use or you hit an activation limit, contact https://support.microsoft.com/contactus for assistance.

You can visit this link and follow instructions: Activate Office for Windows

To use your Microsoft Office 2023 License Key on a new computer after retiring the old one, you typically need to follow these steps:

    1. Uninstall Office from the Old Computer: Ensure that you uninstall Microsoft Office from the retired computer if it's still installed. This helps free up the license for use on a new device.
    2. Install Office on the New Computer: Download and install Microsoft Office on your new computer. You can do this from the Microsoft website or through the installation media if you have it.
    3. Activate Office: During the installation process or after installation, you will be prompted to enter your License Key. Input your Microsoft Office 2023 License Key to activate the software on the new computer.

If you encounter any issues during activation, you may need to contact Microsoft support for assistance, especially if the license is tied to a specific device or if you've reached the maximum number of activations allowed for that key.

    Hi Brenda,

No need for a license key. Simply on the new computer, go to https://account.microsoft.com/services page and click the Install button. You may have to deactivate the license on the older computer from this page.
