How do I remove a "Work or School" account from my MS Teams account?

My issue is that I had a school account (Remove PII - does not exist any longer) associated with my personal account (Remove PII - this needs to stay!!!)

Whenever I have a Teams call set up, it would default to my Remove PII account trying to log in.

no success whatsoever anytime, sure, because it was deleted back in June 2025.

When the school admin requested which email I want to associate the school account with, I chose Remove PII.

So now, whenever I have a call set up for Remove PII MS Teams wants to log in to this deprecated account.

Any chance you can break the linkage there without removing Remove Pii?
Also, due to this issue my personal MS account registered to the email: Remove Pii gets suspended for violation of whatever terms - can you please investigate and advise?

    Hi grg janossy

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum

To better understand your situation, may I clarify a few more details:

1.When you open Teams and it tries to log in, what exact email does it show as default?

2.If you go to portal.office.com in an incognito browser, sign in with your personal account, Do you land on your personal Outlook/OneDrive? Or does it redirect to a school-branded login page

3.In Windows Settings > Accounts > “Access work or school” (or macOS: System Settings > Users & Groups > Login Options > “Work/School Account”), Is the school account listed there? If yes, what does it say under “Connected to”

4.When your personal account got suspended, what was the exact suspension message?

In the meantime, please try a few basic steps:

    1.Clear Teams cache

-If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar, and then select Quit.

-Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key  +R.

-In the Run dialog box, enter %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams  -Select OK.

-Delete all files and folders in the directory.

    -Restart Teams.

    2.Reinstall Teams:

-Uninstall via Settings > Apps > Microsoft Teams > Uninstall.

-Download the latest version of Teams

-Install and sign in only with your personal account

3.Remove Work/School Account Link (If Visible):

-Go to Windows Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.

-If the school account shows up, select it > Disconnect

    -Restart your PC.

    4.Clear Windows Credentials:

-Search for "Credential Manager" in the Start menu.

-Under "Windows Credentials," look for anything with "Teams," "MicrosoftAccount," or anything related to your school account > Remove them.

-Under "Generic Credentials," remove similar entries.

The initial response may not fully address your needs, but it will help me better understand your situation and try to find the effective solution. Thank you for your patience while we work through it
