My other account has been accidently set up as a kid account

My other Microsoft account appears to have been accidentally set up as a child account. It’s been quite a while since I created it, and I don’t remember exactly what information I used at the time. I believe I might have set up my own account as a child and one of my children’s accounts as the adult by mistake.

Now, I can’t log in because the system keeps asking for parental approval and sends me in a loop requesting verification codes. I am an adult, but the account is stuck as a child profile with no parent account linked to approve access.

Could you please help me verify my age and convert this account to an adult account? I can provide any information you need (such as ID verification, recovery email, or account details). I’m unable to contact support directly because my account is incorrectly flagged as a child account. Could a Microsoft Agent please escalate my case please. I can provide ID to verify my age. Its not this account, its my other account with different email address.

    Hello D Roberts,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I understand that you are having issue with Microsoft account. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

As your description, your account is mistakenly set up as a child account, Microsoft Family Safety enforces parental consent, which can lock you out if no organizer account is linked. Unfortunately, this cannot be fixed directly through settings; it requires identity verification and escalation by Microsoft Support.

    1. Prepare Verification Details

    • Government-issued ID (photo, name, date of birth).
    • The email address of the affected account.
    • Any recovery email or phone number linked to that account

    2. Submit an Age Verification Request

    3. Contact Microsoft Support for Escalation

    • Since you cannot use normal support channels with a child account:
    • Use https://account.live.com/acsr to prove ownership.
    • After recovery, request conversion to an adult account via https://support.microsoft.com/contactus→ choose Account & BillingFamily Safety.
    • If chat is unavailable, try phone support or callback option (works even if the account is flagged as child).

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further update.

    Best Regards,
