How can I add my new Surface Pro 11 to my MSA?

Since purchasing a new Surface, it does not appear as a device in my MSA. I have tried to "Add a Device" multiple times. Each time I receive a screen that says that it has been added. However, upon returning to my account, I get the same no devices found.

Hello Don & Lulu Eager, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand your new Surface Pro 11 isn’t appearing at account.microsoft.com/devices, even after trying “Add a Device,”.

Before trying the steps, make sure:

    • You're signed in with your personal Microsoft account on the Surface: Settings > Accounts > Your info
    • The device is connected to the internet and fully updated: Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates
    • You’ve noted the serial number: Settings > System > About

Here are a few things you can try:

    1. Use Microsoft Store to trigger sync

Open the Microsoft Store app on your Surface, sign in with your Microsoft account, and download any free app (for example, Candy Crush or Microsoft To Do). Launch the app once, then wait about 5–10 minutes. This often triggers the device to register online.

    2. Add the device manually using the serial number

Go to account.microsoft.com/devices, and click “Don’t see your device?” Choose Surface, enter the serial number (found under Settings > System > About), and submit. Restart your Surface and check the device list again.

    3. Refresh your account sync

Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts, and remove any extra accounts. Sign out of Windows, restart the device, and sign back in with your Microsoft account. Also, make sure “Find My Device” is turned on under Settings > Privacy & security.

4.If it still doesn’t show up after 24–48 hours

Open the Get Help app on your Surface and search for “device not in account.” You can chat with Microsoft Support, and they may be able to manually link the device using the serial number.

    Warm regards,
