How to Upgrade Microsoft Edge Update?

Note: This is for Windows Server 2019.

I have a question regarding the Microsoft Edge Update process. We've upgraded the Microsoft Edge browser to version 141.0.3537.71 across our systems. However, I've noticed that on some machines, the Microsoft Edge Update component was successfully updated to version 1.3.203.13, while on a couple of others, it remains stuck at version 1.3.201.11 and hasn’t updated.

How can I manually or automatically ensure that Microsoft Edge Update gets updated to 1.3.203.13 on those machines?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Christian, thank you for posting here in the Microsoft community, to update the Microsoft Edge Update component to version 1.3.203.13 on Windows Server 2019, especially when it's stuck at 1.3.201.11, you can try this step.

Check via Edge Components Page, Open Edge and go to: edge://components then look for Microsoft Edge Update and click Check for update.

Also, you can use Manual Installer, simply Download latest MicrosoftEdgeUpdateSetup.exe from Microsoft Edge Enterprise site, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download then Run the installer manually on affected machines.

If you're automating this across multiple servers, consider using PowerShell with the Edge Update API to fetch the latest version dynamically.

I hope this helps you out.

Hi Christian, thanks for raising this. The issue you're seeing with the Microsoft Edge Update component not upgrading to version 1.3.203.13 is common on Windows Server 2019 due to how Edge is deployed. The component may not appear in edge://components, and the standalone installer isn't available separately.

To resolve this, I recommend reinstalling Edge using the latest MSI from the Edge for Business page. This typically refreshes the update component. Also, check your Group Policy settings to ensure Edge updates are allowed.

On the page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download , under "Select Channel/Build", choose Stable then Under "Select Platform", choose Windows 64-bit then Click Download to get the .msi installer.

This installer is suitable for enterprise deployment and will also refresh the Microsoft Edge Update component if it's outdated or missing.

Hi Christian, Thanks to the follow-up, no need to uninstall the currently installed version running the same version’s MSI installer will automatically overwrite and refresh the existing installation, including the Microsoft Edge Update component.

Just make sure to download the correct MSI version, same build and platform from the Edge for Business download page. This method is safe and commonly used in enterprise environments to repair or refresh Edge components.
