    Hi @Genochio, Austin J

Thank you for posting question to Microsoft Q&A.

I understand that you're trying to open a Microsoft Access file for your college class, but you're being blocked by a macro security warning, even though you know the file is safe. I know how frustrating that must be when you have assignments to do.

This often happens because Office, including Access, automatically blocks macros in files that are downloaded from the internet, a network drive (like a college server), or even email. It's a security feature called "Mark of the Web" to protect you from potentially unsafe files.

Here are the steps you can try, starting with the most common solution.

    1. Add the Folder to "Trusted Locations"

Open Microsoft Access (you can just open a blank database) > Go to File > Options > Select Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Select Trusted Locations from the menu on the left > Click Add new location > Click Browse... and navigate to the folder where you saved your Access file > Check the box that says "Subfolders of this location are also trusted" > Click OK on all the open windows, then restart Access and try opening the file.

    1. "Unblock" the File in Windows Properties

Make sure Access is completely closed > Right-click on the Access file you downloaded and select Properties > In the General tab, look at the bottom. You should see a Security section > Check the "Unblock" box > Click Apply and then OK > Try opening the Access file again.

    1. Enable Macros in the Trust Center

In Access, go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Select Macro Settings > Choose "Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run)", as shown in the image below > Click OK, restart Access, and try again.

However, if those steps still don't fix the issue, I found a few other threads where users solved this problem. You can try referencing them.

But please be very sure that you trust the source of this file. This next step will be very helpful if you do, but it involves lowering security settings.
