To get Microsoft Defender installed and running, here are some steps that you can kindly follow:
1. Check your Windows edition and account permissions:
- Make sure you are running a supported version of Windows that includes Defender.
- Signed in with an administrator account to install and enable it.
2. Install/enable Defender:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security (or Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security for Windows 11)
- If Defender is not installed/enabled, try turning it on via App & browser control > Windows security
3. Update and run quick scan:
- Go to Windows Security app > Virus & threat protection > click Check for updates to make sure your virus definitions are current.
