Hi William, if your Surface Pro is asking for a BitLocker recovery key, here’s how you can find it.

Go to aka.ms/myrecoverykey on another device. Sign in using the same Microsoft account that was used to set up the Surface. Once logged in, look for the recovery key that matches the Key ID shown on your Surface screen. The Key ID helps you match the correct 48-digit recovery key if you have more than one saved. If the device was set up by someone else, the key might be in their Microsoft account. If it’s a work or school device, check with your IT department.

Other places to check:

• A USB flash drive (if you saved the key there)
