Hi There,
This issue usually comes down to how the Authenticator app is set up or how your school account handles multi-factor authentication (MFA). Here are the most common causes:
The Authenticator app might not be properly linked to your school account.
Your phone might be blocking notifications from the app.
The default sign-in method could be set to push notification, but the app isn’t receiving it due to network or permission issues.
Sometimes, the app is installed but not registered correctly, so it doesn’t generate codes or send alerts.
Check the App Setup
Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
Make sure your school account is listed.
Tap the account if you see a 6-digit code, you can use that manually.
Enable Notifications
Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Authenticator > Notifications and make sure they’re allowed.
Also check battery optimization settings some phones restrict background activity, which can block alerts.
Try Manual Code Entry
On the login screen, click “Sign in another way” or “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now”.
Choose “Use a verification code from my mobile app” and enter the 6-digit code from the app.
Re-register the App (if needed)
If the app doesn’t show your school account:
Visit https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info from another device.
Remove the old Authenticator registration.
Re-add it by choosing “Add method > Authenticator app” and follow the setup steps.
Let me know how it goes, Happy to assist you anytime!
