I have windows 11 with 64 bit, ARM based processor. I have purchased a canon laser printer MF 653cdx and am not able to install the Canon software. I have spent over an hour with Canon Techical SUpport and have been unable ot get the drivers installed, as I get an error from Windows that the driver is being blocked. I have tried installing form teh downloads folder, dragging the file to the desktop and running directly from Canon with no luck. I have tried to create a seperate user on the Surface and that also has not worked. Have tried to run as administrator with no success.

Any ideas?

Canon's MF653Cdx are not ARM64-native. As a result, Windows 11 on ARM blocks incompatible kernel-mode drivers.

Open Printers & Scanners in Windows.

    Click Add a printer.

If Windows can’t find it automatically, choose the option to add it manually.

Tell Windows you want to create a new network port using the printer’s IP address.

Windows will then use its generic built-in driver to communicate with the printer. You’ll be able to print normally, but some advanced features (like scanning directly from the printer or special Canon utilities) might not be available.
