"It doesn't look like you're connected to the internet. Check your connection and try again. 0x800704cf"

Whenever I try to log into a Microsoft application (like Minecraft Launcher or the Xbox app) I get this error message, even though I am connected to the internet, and it seems to have nothing to do with that. I've never had this problem before i just got the error a few days back when I tried to launch Minecraft.

I am on the latest version of windows at the time of writing.

These are the solutions i tried:

1.Update Windows and reinstall network drivers

2.reset the network

3.Reset network settings

4.Reset Proxy Server Settings

5.Change DNS

Hello! Mijo. That’s a solid start! You’ve already covered most of the usual network and DNS causes of Error 0x800704cf, which is the “Network location cannot be reached” error.

However, since it persists only with Microsoft apps (like Xbox, Store, Minecraft, etc.) even though the internet works fine, check key services.

    Press Win + R, type:
    services.msc

Make sure these services are running and set to Automatic:

    • Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant
    • Credential Manager
    • Network List Service
    • Workstation
    • Windows Update
    • IP Helper

    If any are stopped:

    Right-click → Properties

    Set Startup type: Automatic

    Click Start, then Apply

    Then try signing in again.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance, just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
