Major issues with sending messages on Teams

Ever since the switch from Skype to Teams, myself and a friend I talk with everyday had major problems with sending messages. Often times the messages will take about 4 hours to deliver on both my PC and phone, or they will appear instantly on my phone while the delay remains on my PC. Sometimes closing and reopening the app helps, sometimes it does nothing. It almost seems completely random when and how Teams breaks. This happens for both me and my friend, so it's not just a problem on my end.

I've tried a lot of the solutions Microsoft has given such as reinstalling Teams. I'm really surprised how even basic functionality isn't present in Microsoft's flagship communication platform. As it is now, it is partially unusable and we may be forced to switch to a different messaging platform. Are there any solutions at this point, or do we just need to wait until Microsoft develops a critical fix for Teams?

This looks less like a simple reinstall miss and more like a client sync or cache problem. Microsoft’s current guidance for stale or missing chat updates is to restart Teams and, if that only helps briefly, clear Teams cache. That fits your symptom where mobile updates first and desktop catches up hours later.

The two highest value steps left are to force an update and restart Teams on desktop, then do one clean comparison in Teams on the web. If web chat is instant while the desktop app still lags, that strongly points to local desktop state. If desktop, mobile, and web all lag for both of you, the docs do not show a reliable end user fix beyond cache reset and updating, so it’s reasonable to treat that as a Microsoft-side issue or account-side problem rather than something you can fully repair yourself.
