My camera isn't working it is showing that it has been blocked or switched off by a key but I didn't do it

I have the exact same problem. There's no switch, no button, everything is turned on, all permissions are allowed, neither of the function options work and I don't have a dedicated camera button. Everything worked fine until I was forced onto Windows 11. I can't afford a new computer because this one isn't even a year old. Thanks for breaking my stuff, Microsoft!!!

Hi,
I am also having the same issue. My camera is blocked and i cant find the key on keyboard. Even if i troubleshoot and restart my laptop the issue is not resolved. Camera is not even working for google meet call. This is my new laptop and it's been 2 months i bought this. Any suggestions for resolving this issue.

Hi,
It sounds like Windows thinks your webcam has been turned off by a hardware control, which is why you’re seeing that blocked message. Many laptops have either a tiny physical slider near the camera or a function key (often F8, F10, or one with a little camera icon) that can toggle it on and off, so it’s worth giving those a quick check. If that’s not it, the next place to look is Windows privacy settings to make sure apps are actually allowed to use the camera. In short, it’s either the laptop itself telling Windows "camera disabled" through a key or switch, or Windows is blocking access at the software level checking both should usually pinpoint the culprit.
