Dear @Faten Bouajila,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.
I understand that you're looking for a way to prevent students from accessing the meeting recording, a very important control in an educational setting.
First, ensure that only you (the instructor/organizer) can start the recording to maintain control over the file.
- By default, all recording files go to the OneDrive account of the meeting organizer or the user who selected Record.
- You can set meeting options to restrict recording permissions:
- In the Meeting options for your virtual class, adjust the setting for "Who can present?" to "Only me". Only Presenters and Organizers can start the recording.
Access to the recording is controlled in SharePoint, as this is the actual storage location, and Teams is just the access interface.
While there is no single automatic setting to prevent students from viewing all recordings, the fastest way to restrict viewing for a series of classes is to revoke access immediately after the recording is processed:
For Channel Meetings
If you schedule the class in a Team Channel, the recording is saved to the Team's SharePoint Site. Students (as Team Members) will initially have Edit permission, which allows downloads. You can do this in Teams:
- Navigate to the Channel → Files → Recordings folder.
- Locate the recording file (usually named after the meeting).
- Click the three dots (⋯) next to the file → Manage Access → Stop Sharing (or remove the Students/Members group that has Edit access). This will immediately prevent the students from opening it.
Or you can do this in Sharepoint:
- Go to the meeting chat and click on the recording file → Open in Sharepoint.
- In Sharepoint, click the three dots (⋯) next to the file → Manage Access → Stop sharing.
This workflow is faster than managing access one-by-one, as you are managing the sharing of the file itself in its storage location.
