when click to open folder/document egg timer symbol appears and takes 40 seconds to open folder

Since mid August when click on any folder or document the egg timer symbol appears and it takes more than a minute to open. Have tried turning off all apps that start when turn on and uninstalled latest updates but makes no difference. How can this be rectified?

This is a problem some people reported after the August update, does that problem only happen in File Explorer inside folders that are synced to OneDrive or some other cloud service, also, if you open an app like Word, and open files from inside Word, do the files open normally with no delay?

Yes it seems like it is the folders that are synced to One Drive, it's okay if open in word or insert document to an email.

Thank you for that information, most likely, like other people have reported this is caused by the August update with files stored in OneDrive folders, click your Start Button, then just type winver and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting dialog box.
