Having serious problems with Microsft Store

Hi, I have followed nearly every article to get the Microsoft Store installed.

I have even done an in-place reinstall of Windows 11. Still, no Microsoft Store. Additionally, my Windows 2024 Office Plus programs, Excel, and Word, were logged into Microsoft, but when I try to log in, I get my Windows security - 'Making sure it's me.' After entering my PIN, I get 'Something went wrong. Please try again later.' - 0x80190001 error message.

I have followed nearly all the advice regarding this error code.

So I used the Repair Windows Store - "Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}"

To my surprise, I now have a Microsoft Store icon on my start page. Unfortunately, when I click the icon, I get "Sorry about that!" Something went wrong, and Microsoft Store failed to initialise. Try refreshing or come back later.

I do try refreshing, but I get the same answer.

Now I am logged into my Microsoft Account, and it shows me all my settings, but no access to Microsoft Store.

I am now completely at a loss as to what to do next.

My system specs are:-

Device name King

Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400F (2.50 GHz)

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)

Device ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Product ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and touch: No pen or touch input is available for this display

Windows Specs:-

Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version 24H2

Installed on ‎07/‎09/‎2025 (This is the reinstallation date I mentioned earlier)

OS build 26100.5074

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.234.0

Thanks in advance

    Hi, good day!

When was the last time it worked properly?

Please let me know if you have tried the methods below.

    • If you have a third-party VPN or Antivirus installed, please try to temporarily uninstall it then check if the issue persists.
    • Reset the Microsoft Store cache

Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the Run dialog box, type

    wsreset.exe -i

    and then select OK.

    Note:

A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close, and Microsoft Store will open automatically.

    • Check the Microsoft Store Install Service

Press the Windows Key + S and type in services.msc.

Find the Microsoft Store Install Service and double click, If the status is Running, right click it then select Restart

If disabled, change it to Automatic, click Start and click OK.

I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed.

    Hi John,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me.

I have followed all your instructions. Third-party programs related to VPNs and firewalls have been temporarily stopped. I ran the wsreset.exe -i, and as you said, the CMD box opened briefly and shut down; the Windows Store did not open automatically.

The Microsoft Store Install Service was checked, and it was found to be running. I restarted it and changed it to run automatically.

    I then ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, and the operation completed successfully.

Then I ran sfc /scannow, and it states, 'Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.'

I still have the Microsoft Store Icon on my start-up Page, and when I click it, I still get the message, Sorry about that! Something went wrong and Microsoft Store failed to initialise. Try refreshing or come back later.

Refreshing does not open Microsoft Store, nor does it if I wait and try again.

I know where the Microsoft App is, and I have checked it with my laptop.

On my PC, it's only 912 KB.

On my laptop, it shows it as 13.8 MB,

    So something is missing?

Well I never....I deleted all two Antivirus/VPN progamms. I then went to the Region and changed it to USA. and low and behold, Microsft Store jumped into life, I am gobsmacked.

I have sin ce change the Region back to UK and the Microsoft store now opens up......

So Thank you John, a job very well done.
