Mic doesn't work unless connected as Headset with mic

Hello. My PC recognizes my microphone, but it doesn't hear it when I connect it as a microphone from the Dell Audio window. Unless I've selected it as a headset with microphone, in which case it does, but I can't hear the audio.

I've already changed the privacy settings and reinstalled the drivers, but still nothing.

Thank you for letting me know.

That’s why the Awei Clipper MK1 mic isn’t being picked up properly. This mic is designed mainly for phones, so the plug combines headphones and microphone together.

To make it work on your PC, you’ll need a small 3.5mm splitter (sometimes called a headphone/mic splitter). It plugs into your PC’s single 3.5mm jack, and then splits it into two, one for headphones and one for the mic. Once you use that, your Awei Clipper MK1 should be recognized correctly as a standalone mic.

They’re inexpensive and easy to find online or in electronics stores.

I really hope this information is helpful! :)

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

The issue may comes down to how the audio ports are being recognized.

    Please try this:

    • Open the Realtek Audio Console (or Dell Audio if that’s what your system uses).
    • Go to Device Advanced Settings.
    • Look for Connector Retasking and make sure the port your mic is plugged into is set as Headset or Microphone, not just “Headphones.”

If it still doesn’t work, could you let me know:

    1. Whether your mic is a standalone one or part of a headset?
    2. And if you’ve tested it on another device to confirm it works normally there?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
