This usually happens when your tenant is too new, self service trials are blocked by admin settings, or your tenant has already hit the limit for free trial capacities.
Your account must be an organizational (work or school) Azure AD or M365 account, not a personal Microsoft account.
If your Azure/M365 tenant is new, there’s now a cooling off period, many users report you need approx 90 days before a Fabric trial can be created. https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Fabric-platform/This-has-to-be-a-joke-We-cannot-assign-you-a-free-Microsoft/m-p/4332266
Ask your admin to allow trials in the PBI admin portal :
- users can try MS Fabric paid features : should be enabled (otherwise trials are blocked).
