Hi @KY
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
To better assist you, could you please confirm the following:
- What version of the OneDrive app and iOS is currently installed on your device?
- Does this behavior occur consistently with all photo uploads, or only after multiple attempts?
- Have you tried reinstalling the app, and if so, did the issue temporarily resolve?
- Are you using automatic camera upload or manually selecting photos for upload?
- Is this issue happening with all photo uploads or only with certain albums or photo formats (like Live Photos, HEIC, JPEG)?
- Are you signing into OneDrive with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?
- Have you noticed if this secondary selection prompt appears only after the recent app update or after an iOS update?
- Could you confirm if the photos you previously uploaded still appear properly on OneDrive after upload?
In the meantime, I would recommend trying the following steps to work around the issue:
- Manual uploading to trigger sync: Upload a few photos manually inside the OneDrive app via the "+" button > Upload > select photos > Done. Users have reported that after this manual upload, the automatic photo upload resumes properly.
- Using iPhone photos app share feature: Instead of uploading from within OneDrive, select photos in the iOS Photos app, tap the Share icon, and choose OneDrive. This can bypass the problematic secondary selection page.
- Keeping OneDrive active and disable auto-lock: Large photo backups require the OneDrive app to be active and your phone unlocked to complete uploads. Temporarily disable auto-lock in iPhone settings and keep the OneDrive app open while uploading, especially for large batches.
- Clearing cache / reinstalling app: Logging out and back in to OneDrive, or uninstalling and reinstalling the app, can help clear corrupted cache or temporary glitches causing upload issues.
- Reseting OneDrive account in app: In OneDrive, go to Profile > Settings > Account > Reset to force the app to refresh its view of uploaded photos. This can help if the app "thinks" photos are uploaded but they are missing.
- Uploading photos in smaller batches: Due to some limits or glitches in iOS sharing, uploading very large numbers (>30-35) of photos at once may fail or hide the OneDrive sharing option. Uploading in smaller batches can avoid this.
- Uploading from PC or Mac: If the entire camera roll is large, consider connecting the iPhone to a computer, transferring photos to it, and then uploading to OneDrive from there for a more reliable bulk upload
