Hi, I'm Arlene, an independent advisor — thanks for reaching out

Only the organizer (your mother) can remove your son's account from her family group. She needs to go to family.microsoft.com, sign in, select your son's name, and click "Remove from family group." After that, you can add him to your own group. There's no other way to move a child account Microsoft requires the organizer to remove it first.

Hope it helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards,

    Arlene D.

    Hi Arlene,

That's exactly what I tried to do.

The problem is that my wife's account manages my son's, but it currently displays the following message “Your Microsoft 365 Family subscription has expired”.

However, it lets you log in to the account, but doesn't allow you to remove your son and displays the following message 'You can't remove Tomás from the family group

Family members under the legal age need the consent of an adult to join a family group. Only the adult who gave consent for Tomás can remove this family member. Ask the family organiser who gave consent for Tomas to remove Tomas from the family group.'

And I really can't contact support or get help to resolve this and my son has limited functionality.

    What can I do?

Hi Liliana, thanks for the update.

Even if the Microsoft 365 subscription has expired, your wife's account is still the family organizer and the only one who can remove your son's account. She needs to go to family.microsoft.com, sign in with the same account that originally gave consent, and remove Tomás from there. If it doesn’t work, try using a different browser or private/incognito mode.

If the option is still blocked, you’ll need to contact Microsoft Support here: support.microsoft.com/contactus select “Account & billing” > “Family & child safety.”

Let me know if her account can’t sign in or verify I’ll help from there.

    Best,

    Arlene D.

Today I finally managed to get in touch with support, although it wasn't easy.

They managed to solve the problem.
