Microsoft Form not submitting when out of the office on home visits: Sorry, something went wrong

I have created a form to record data from home visits. I fill these in myself.

Settings are... anyone can respond, accept responses (no time limits), allow respondents to save responses, allow respondents to edit responses.

I am partially filling in the form in the office with some of the data needed for the home visit. Then submitting and saving for later.

When I go back to edit the form, in the physical office, and submit, it works fine.

If I go out on a home visit and open form that has been pre filled with essential data, fill it out and press submit, it says Sorry, something went wrong. And will not submit.

When on the home visit I have tried using my mobile data for hot spotting lap top, I have tried using clients wifi.

I have also tried copying the form, creating a new one, and using that instead, same thing happened.

I have also tried using net extender to be linked into organisation network,

None of these things have helped.

I am having to take the filled in form back to my office after the home visit, then copying and pasting data from that form into a new one, which submits fine... and then deleting the form that wouldn't submit. Very laborious and annoying.

Please can you help?

    Hello Caroline,

Thank you for interacting with us by posting your issue on this forum.

We can try with these troubleshooting which may fix the issue for you:

    1. Check Network Restrictions – Office firewall/security settings may block outside submissions.
    2. Try Different Browsers or Clear Cache.
    3. Review Form Permissions – Ensure external submissions are allowed.
    4. Try submitting the pre-filled form without changes.
    5. Verify Required Fields or Conditional Logic – Ensure no missing mandatory fields.
    6. Use Incognito Mode or Another Account – See if login/session issues are causing the problem.

Hope this helps! Have a nice day!

    Thanks for checking,

So far we have had no issues with options 1, 3,4,5 or 6.

Number 2. We have tried emptying cache, this seemed to work in the short term, but then it happened again next time I logged in. Happening with both browsers chrome and edge.

We have set up the cache to be emptied every time I close the browsers now, so will see if this makes a difference, and get back to you.

    Many thanks

    Caroline
