PowerPoint Show (*.ppsx) does not work in online PowerPoint?

Hi. This is my first ever Microsoft post.

I am trying to package a PowerPoint presentation for team members where they simply open or click a presentation and it starts a slide show. I do not want any editing etc.

It appears of the file is renamed with a .ppsx extension which you open or click on it locally and have powerpoint installed it will simply start the slide show, and i can put timers on each slide, etc.

This does not appear to work with powerpoint for the web.

Surely this can be done?

Thank you for the response. This is unfortunate and I hope it resolves in the future.

    Dear Jeff-Seattle,

Thank you for using our service and for your inquiry about using PowerPoint Show (.ppsx) files on PowerPoint Online.

We would like to inform you that currently, the PowerPoint Show (.ppsx) format is not supported to open and automatically run a slideshow on the web version of PowerPoint (browser-based). When opening a .ppsx file on the web, it will display in the normal view or edit mode and will not automatically start the slideshow as it does on the desktop PowerPoint application.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause

Here are a couple of Feedback Suggestions requesting that this problem be fixed. Please add your vote to make it more likely that Microsoft will do something about the issue:

.PPSX files and SharePoint - They don't open as .ppsx

.ppsx files open in the PowerPoint application instead of as a slide show
