how to change check boxes to yes/no

in microsoft access, the checkboxes keep appearing although i had changed the format to Yes/No and it still appears as tick boxes and i need a solution

In table design view change the Display Control in the Lookup tab of the column's properties sheet to Text Box. You'll also need to change the control to a text box in any forms or reports which you've previously created to return data from the table in question.
