    Hi Mollie W

I’m Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.

There could be several reasons why your computer is blocked and making a loud noise. It could be due to blocked air vents, running demanding software, a malfunctioning hard drive, using outdated drivers, or viruses and malware. It could also be due to dust accumulation on vents or fans, not enough ventilation, or physical damage.

You can try to check and clean air vents, provide proper ventilation, run a hardware diagnostic test, and update the BIOS and device drivers to fix the problem.

I hope this helps! Is there anything else you would like to know?

    Best regards segunfunmi

Thank you, but I do not think that is the issue. It is saying windows defender, and Microsoft is blocking my computer. It tells me to contact Microsoft for help.

That's a fake so-called Tech Support scam alert/warning which you are seeing in your browser.

"Remember that real error messages from Microsoft, or other big tech companies, never include phone numbers for you to call them.

If your screen suddenly fills with scary pop-ups you should immediately close your browser (try pressing ALT+F4 if you can't do it with your mouse). If you can’t close your browser try restarting your computer."

Other methods to get out of such fake Tech Support scam browser warnings are listed here:: Thread "Blocked computer" page 1: AW's reply on January 21, 2023
